AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND, May 21 2009– Yahoo!7 and Telecom New Zealand (NZX:TEL, ASX:TEL, NYSE:NZT) today announced a mobile search partnership for Yahoo!Xtra oneSearch to power the Internet search experience on the new Telecom XT Mobile Network TWorld portal. The co-branded Telecom - Yahoo!Xtra oneSearch experience will provide XT Mobile Network customers accessing the TWorld mobile portal with relevant information on virtually any topic such as news, financial information, weather conditions, flight details, integrated information from Wikipedia and Yahoo!Xtra Answers, and much more. In the near future the search service will also display relevant ringtones, wallpapers, games and other content from the operator’s mobile portal. This launch builds on the partnership the two companies announced in 2006, providing Telecom New Zealand’s mobile customers with innovative online services - XT Mobile Network customers will have direct access to Yahoo!Xtra Mail and Yahoo!Xtra Messenger from TWorld. Yahoo!Xtra oneSearch is designed for the needs of a mobile user, intuitively returning results grouped around the user’s intent, removing the need for consumers to navigate through thousands of links to find the information they want. For instance, when a search for a city is entered Telecom’s GM of Mobile Paul Hamburger, believes XT Mobile Network customers will immediately appreciate having Yahoo!Xtra oneSearch at their fingertips. “The speed and search results of Yahoo! oneSearch are globally recognised as the best available for mobile. Providing our customers with this sort of quality service is vital to ensuring they can take advantage of the XT Mobile Network’s extensive 3G coverage.” "Globally the Yahoo! oneSearch product revolutionized the mobile search experience by presenting consumers with relevant answers tailored to where they are and exactly what they want. In partnership with Telecom, we’re incredibly excited to bring the industry leading mobile search experience to New Zealand consumers,” said Rohan Lund, CEO Yahoo!7.
